Military builder association protested for their long pending demands

Dharamsala, February 17, 2014: Yol Branch of Military Engineer Services (MES) Builders Association of India held a protest outside the office of Garrision Engineer Yol Cantt to impress the government to release long pending payments of the builders which have been held up for a very long period. Protest was led by the Branch Chairman SK Mali, Secretary, Sanjeev Khanna and Vice chairman Gurmeet Singh.
Speaking to media, the Branch Chairman SK Mali said that the association comprising of thousand of builders spread throughout the country in 71 branches held a peaceful agitation throughout the country to impress upon the government to release long pending payments of the builders which have been held up for a very long period.
He said that the builders also demanded insertion of reimbursement of price escalation clauses due to threat of imminent losses as a result of acute and unprecedented price hike of materials, labour wages and fuel.
During the protest Khanna demanded that if the employees are covered under dearness allowance reimbursements then there is no reason that this cover is extended to builders as well so that they refrain from speculative tendering which tantamount to gambling. The builders resented the official apathy by the department and resolved to raise the level of protest in case redressal of their problems remain ignored any further.
