Met Dept weather prediction for Saturday worries cricket lovers in Dharamsala

Dharamsala, February 25, 2022: TwoT20 matches were to be played between India and Sri Lanka on February 26 and 27 in Dharamsala, the first match of the three match series was played in Lucknow on the February 24. The Sri Lankan team reached Dharamsala airport at 1 pm today, while the Indian team, which won the first T20 against Sri Lanka yesterday at Lucknow,  reached  Dharamsala at 3.30 pm today. Media was not allowed at the airport as Dr K C Sharma, SSP, Kangra said, “In view of bio bubble protocol of Cricket Teams due to Covid-19 all media persons are requested not to enter inside of outer periphery of the airport.”
These matches will be played in the backdrop of snow covered Dhauladhar Mountains of Dharamsala. Both the teams will be staying in Hotel Radisson.
Due to the torrential rain across the state for the past two days ,there was a confusion among the people regarding these  matches, but on seeing the sunshine this morning, the cricket lovers are now very excited. The only worrying prediction is of the Met department which says that western disturbance is likely to extend till Saturday.
The last two international matches which were to be played at Dharamsala in September 2019 and March 2020 , both between India and South Africa, were washed out due to heavy rains,   but now due to the clear weather today, the hope of playing in  upcoming matches has been increased. 
Mohit Sud, official of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association informed, “The last minute preparations for these matches are in full swing. Everyplace is being sanitized under the Covid protocol and strict security arrangements have been made.  It is being ensured that no person enters the premises without a mask. No one is being given entry in the stadium before the matches. Ground is being prepared for tomorrow’s India vs Sri Lanka match.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal said, “In view of the India-Sri Lanka T20 cricket match to be held inDharamsala on 26 and 27 February 2022, there is a possibility of a large number of spectators reaching Dharamsala. During both the matches, the parking arrangements have been made at different places like Zoravar Stadium, near the DIG office, Mini Secretariat parking in front of Hanuman Mandir and Police Ground Dharamsala. From parking space at Zoravar Stadium to War Memorial, a shuttle bus service shall also be provided. Another shuttle bus service will be made available near Sheela Chowk.” He said that arrangements of cranes have been made to lift away the wrongly parked vehicles on the roadside. He said that the cooperation of the general public is expected in maintaining the smooth flow of traffic.
