“Meri Matti Mera Desh” Abhiyan at DAVIET

DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, celebrated ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ on Wednesday, with a pledge and tree plantation to reaffirm the commitment of all participants towards our nation.’ Meri Matti Mera Desh Abhiyan visualizes an integrated celebration of India’s soil, memorializing the nation’s journey of freedom from 9th August to 30th August. The campaign comprises many activities conducted across the country at different levels.

Jalandhar, August 9, 2023: DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, celebrated ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ on Wednesday, with a pledge and tree plantation to reaffirm the commitment of all participants towards our nation.’ Meri Matti Mera Desh Abhiyan visualizes an integrated celebration of India’s soil, memorializing the nation’s journey of freedom from 9th August to 30th August. The campaign comprises many activities conducted across the country at different levels.

Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Officiating Principal, DAVIET, stated that the event is an enriching experience to foster a sense of patriotism among countrymen. He emphasized the vital connection between our land and our nation. He underscored the need for environmental stewardship and a strong sense of national pride. Dr. Naval highlighted the role of education in fostering a deep respect for our soil and culture. He urged students to actively engage in initiatives that promote sustainability and community welfare, reinforcing the idea that our collective efforts shape the destiny of our beloved country.

At DAVIET, the students and faculty took solemn pledge affirming their commitment to the country. They brought mitti from their places and collected them at ‘Amrit Vatika’ for plantation. All replenished Mother Earth by planting 75 saplings and developed Amrit Vatika. The program was concluded with National Flag hoisting and singing National Anthem. 

Dr. Ashok Kumar, Convener, NSS, appreciated the students, staff, and faculty’s active participation in this program. He apprised the Volunteers that the three-week long program “Meri Maati Mera Desh” with the tagline `Mitti ko naman, veeron ka vandan,` is a nationwide program and people-led “Jan bhagidari” initiative to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. It is the finale of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav program. It involves paying tribute to the ‘Veers’ who protect our nation. We affirm our bond to the nourishing earth and honor our braves with the simple actions.”
