Member of PAU’s Board of Management and Ex-Director Research Dr Balwinder Singh passes away

Ludhiana, May 30, 2022: The member of the Board of Management of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and former Director of Research at PAU, Dr Balwinder Singh left for the heavenly abode on May 29. The senior officials, faculty and staff of PAU expressed their heartfelt condolences over the sad demise of Dr Singh and prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the noble soul and strength to the family for bearing the irreparable loss of their beloved member.

Mr Sarvjit Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab and Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr Shammi Kapoor, Registrar; Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research; Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education; Dr MIS Gill, Dean, College of Agriculture; Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication and PAU Alumni Association, while expressing profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of Dr Singh, acknowledged his immense contributions to the PAU and agriculture.

Dr DK Sharma, Head, Department of Entomology, said that Dr Balwinder Singh served PAU in various capacities including Assistant Entomologist, PAU’s Regional Research Station, Faridkot (1984-1985); Assistant Residue Analyst (1985-1989), Residue Analyst (1989-1998); Senior Residue Analyst (1998-2014); Head, Department of Entomology (2011-2014); Director of Research (2014-2016) and Consultant since 2016.
