Meeting Organised on the occasion of the 140th Foundation Day of Congress

Ludhiana, December 28, 2025: On the occasion of the 140th Foundation Day of the Congress Party, a meeting was organised today at Punjab Mata Nagar, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. Senior Congress leader Amrita Warring attended the meeting as the chief guest and called upon party workers to work dedicatedly towards strengthening the party.

Addressing the gathering, Amrita Warring said that all the major infrastructure development that has taken place since India’s Independence is the result of the efforts of Congress governments. She said, “At the time of Independence, the country had not even pucca roads besides inadequate healthcare, and was facing several challenges especially unemployment and food scarcity. It is a matter of pride that the Congress has played a pivotal role in overcoming these issues and making the nation self-reliant.”

Amrita Warring emphasised that when the party is out of power, the morale of workers often weakens, which is nothing unusual. She criticised the policies being pursued by the Modi-led central government. Warring stated that had the Congress followed the same path, it might not have remained out of power; however, the Congress has always placed the national interest above everything else. She urged party workers to continue working to strengthen the organisation.

Meanwhile, former President of the District Congress Committee (Urban), Ludhiana, Pawan Dewan said that the Congress Party has made numerous sacrifices in the struggle for India’s freedom and in safeguarding the nation thereafter. “The party gave the country a Constitution that protects the rights of crores of citizens. However, the Modi-led central government is continuously making efforts to weaken the Constitution. Despite this, Congress workers will continue to fight for the rights of the people”, he asserted.

On this occasion, among others, Jagsir Singh Sidhu OSD to Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, PCC member Sushil Malhotra, senior Congress leader Inderjit Kapoor, Ludhiana Mahila Congress President Surinder Kaur, Sunil Sehgal, Neeraj Birla, Jaswinder Singh, Brij Mohan Kalia and Sushil Sharma were also present.
