Ludhiana, October 9, 2025: A meeting of the city-level committee was held at the Zone D office of the Municipal Corporation in Sarabha Nagar. It focused on transforming urban road infrastructure to world-class standards.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held regarding the proposed plans for transforming the city roads selected under the project. The consultant firms have been directed to complete the designs at the earliest so that the authorities can move forward with the projects on the ground.
The presentation regarding the proposed designs were given by officials of the consultant firms hired for the project.
Beautification of the entry points to the city and junction improvements are also part of the project. Every category including commuters, cyclists and pedestrians will be taken care of and the stretches would be redeveloped keeping in mind the requirements of the respective area. Safety of the commuters/pedestrians, parking, landscaping/greenery etc would be among the priority sectors.
Sherpur chowk to Jagraon bridge, Jagraon bridge to old sabji mandi chowk, Fountain chowk to Bharat Nagar chowk, Fountain chowk to Aarti Cinema chowk, Chaura Bazar chowk to Ghas Mandi chowk, road outside DMC hospital, Field Ganj to civil hospital road, road leading to Gill Village from Gill chowk, Model Town road etc would be redeveloped under the project. These are among the major projects which are being taken up for developing quality infrastructure.
The consultant firms and concerned authorities have been directed to complete the works assigned to them within stipulated time period and residents would soon witness a major positive change on the roads of the city in the coming time.
