MDU VC Prof. Punia inaugurates the 'Paryavaran Mahotsav' at Campus School
MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia inaugurated the 'Paryavaran Mahotsav' (Environment Festival) organized by the MDU Youth Red Cross (YRC) at the University Campus School. Promoting the messages "Plant Trees, Save the Earth" and "Greenery Brings Prosperity," the special campaign was launched with the chief guest and distinguished guests planting a ‘Triveni’ (a cluster of three sacred trees) and medicinal saplings on the school premises.
Rohtak, August 3, 2026: MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia inaugurated the 'Paryavaran Mahotsav' (Environment Festival) organized by the MDU Youth Red Cross (YRC) at the University Campus School. Promoting the messages "Plant Trees, Save the Earth" and "Greenery Brings Prosperity," the special campaign was launched with the chief guest and distinguished guests planting a ‘Triveni’ (a cluster of three sacred trees) and medicinal saplings on the school premises.
Chief Guest and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that the resolve to "plant trees, save trees, and beautify the earth" is the need of the hour. He emphasized that making the earth green is the only way to tackle serious issues like global warming. The Vice Chancellor urged the students to nurture the planted saplings as they would a family member, ensuring that future generations inherit a clean and healthy environment.
Mahant Rajendra Das, Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. Navdeep Hooda, and Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal attended the event as distinguished guests. All the guests expressed concern over the escalating environmental crisis and administered a pledge to the youth and schoolchildren present, urging them to plant and nurture at least one sapling in their lives.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Forest Officer shared details about the Forest Department's environmental conservation efforts and assured all possible technical support for the campaign. MDU’s Director Forestry, Prof. Surendra Yadav moderated the proceedings. Under the leadership of YRC Program Coordinator, Prof. Anju Dhiman, schoolchildren and YRC volunteers participated enthusiastically in the tree-planting drive. Dr. Sumit Malik, along with university officials, teachers, staff, students, and YRC volunteers, were present at the event.
