MDU VC Prof. Milap Punia directs to give priority to eco-friendly infrastructure in PM-USHA projects

He emphasized that quality and timeliness are the top priorities in these development works.
On Friday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia presided over a meeting of the Board of Governors constituted under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA). During the meeting, various ongoing university projects were reviewed, and several key proposals aimed at strengthening academic and physical infrastructure were approved.
The Vice-Chancellor directed the Engineering Cell to complete all necessary preliminary preparations for the proposed PM-USHA construction and renovation works even before the receipt of grant funds, ensuring there would be no unnecessary delays in project implementation. Approval was granted for the procurement of 25 high-capacity computers and necessary software for a new laboratory to be set up in the Department of Mathematics.
Additionally, the purchase of drones and related software for the Department of Geography was sanctioned. The procurement of IT equipment for the common room currently under construction in the girls' hostel was also given the green light. A significant decision was also taken regarding the renovation and modernization of 60 university laboratories under the PM-USHA grant. The responsibility for preparing a detailed action plan for this initiative was assigned to the Director (RUSA) to ensure the work is completed with quality and within the stipulated time frame.
Director (RUSA) Prof. Pradeep K. Ahlawat presented a progress report on the projects implemented under PM-USHA so far. Additionally, the recommendations made during the Project Monitoring Unit meeting were presented to the Board of Governors and subsequently approved. Information regarding the utilization of grants received by the university, proposed activities, and future plans was also shared.
Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof. A.S. Maan, Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal, Dean (P&D) Prof. Pramod Bhardwaj, Finance Officer Mukesh Bhatt, HoD Mathematics Prof. Sumit Gill, and Dr. Neeraj Chauhan from the RUSA office were present at the meeting.
