Rohtak, June 3, 2026: University Teaching Departments (UTDs) should develop both short‑term and long‑term institutional plans to strengthen capacity building, skill development, knowledge expansion and the holistic growth of its students, Vice‑Chancellor of MDU, Rohtak Prof. Milap Punia said today.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Punia made these remarks while visiting the Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management (IHTM), and the departments of Education and Public Administration. He met with faculty members and research scholars to discuss priorities for the coming academic year.

Looking ahead to the Academic Session 2026–27, the Vice‑Chancellor urged a renewed emphasis on academics and research aimed at student development. He called for departmental workshops to improve employability, dedicated mentoring and specialised training for research scholars to boost critical thinking and research skills, and practical fieldwork to expose students to real‑world socio‑economic issues suitable for meaningful research projects.

Addressing the IHTM faculty, VC Prof. Punia encouraged research and programme development in rural tourism, spiritual tourism, and the promotion of regional culture and cuisine.

 The visit included briefings from Director, IHTM Prof. Sandeep Malik; Head of Public Administration Prof. Sewa Singh Dahiya; and Head of Education Dr. Madhuri Hooda.
