MDU Urges Youth to Break Taboos, Promote Blood, Organ Donation

Rohtak, September 30, 2026: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) organised a blood and organ donation awareness camp under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, urging students to challenge social taboos and become ambassadors of life-saving causes.
The programme was jointly organised by the Youth Red Cross, Dean Students’ Welfare Office, Centre for Medical Biotechnology, Public Relations Office and University Institute of Public Health Sciences.
MDU Registrar Prof Sandeep Bansal, who inaugurated the camp, called upon students to imbibe humanitarian values and spread awareness about blood and organ donation. Using storytelling, he urged youth to challenge social and mental barriers to strengthen the spirit of equality.
Dean, CDC, Prof Rajesh Poonia, the keynote speaker, stressed the need to dispel outdated notions and promote scientific thinking to encourage blood and organ donation. He also administered an oath on gender equality.
Dean Students’ Welfare Prof Sapna Garg also motivated students to contribute to the cause. Resource persons Dr Madhukant and Dr Dinesh Sharma highlighted key aspects of blood and organ donation, including the donation process and the need for greater public awareness.
Youth Red Cross programme coordinator Prof Anju Dhiman coordinated the event, while Dr Rashmi Bhardwaj delivered the welcome address. Faculty members, dignitaries and Youth Red Cross volunteers, including Dr Anil Kumar, Dr Bindu Ahlawat and Dr Rekha Dhingra, attended the programme.
