Rohtak, September 20, 2026: Advanced gene-editing tools and emerging strategies to tackle malaria were the focus of expert lectures organised by the Centre for Biotechnology at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in association with its Biotechnology Club.
Dr Abhishek Bansal from the School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, spoke on “CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing to Understand Liver Stage Development in Malaria Parasite.” He explained the application of CRISPR-Cas9 technology in studying the liver-stage development of the malaria parasite.
Dr Sumit Rathore from the Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi, discussed “Strategies to Tackle Malaria Parasite,” highlighting scientific approaches and ongoing research aimed at understanding and combating the parasite.
The experts interacted with MSc Biotechnology, MSc Agri-Biotechnology students and PhD scholars, addressed their queries and shared insights from their research work.
Centre Director Prof Ritu Gill welcomed the experts, while Prof KK Sharma proposed the vote of thanks. Faculty members, researchers and students attended the programme.
