Rohtak, June 17, 2026: In observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (MDU) will host a large-scale Yoga event on June 18 at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Cricket Stadium ground in the varsity’s sports complex. The programme will begin at 6:30 a.m.
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia will be the chief guest for the district-level celebrations, while MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia will preside over the function.
Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal said the event will bring together a broad cross-section of the university and local community to mark the global observance of Yoga and promote physical and mental well‑being.
A wide variety of participants are expected to join the mass session, including MDU faculty and non‑teaching staff, research scholars, and students. Uniformed contingents such as NCC cadets will be present alongside NSS and YRC volunteers, sportspersons and local yoga enthusiasts. Faculty and staff from colleges affiliated to MDU have also been invited to take part.
The highlight of the programme will be a coordinated mass yoga performance conducted according to the standard Yoga protocol. The session will include guided practice of asanas, pranayama and brief meditation suitable for all age groups and fitness levels.
MDU administration is making comprehensive arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event. Security, crowd management, first aid facilities and hydration points will be in place, and seating and staging arrangements have been finalised to accommodate large numbers of participants.
MDU has appealed to residents across Rohtak city and the district to join the event and help spread the campaign “Har Din Yoga, Har Ghar Yoga,” encouraging daily home practice as well as community participation. The organisers emphasize that the programme is open to all — beginners and seasoned practitioners alike — and urged participants to arrive well in time to facilitate timely commencement of the programme.
