MDU Academic Council Approves Online and Distance Education Proposals
The 206th Emergent Meeting of the Academic Council of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia. Conducted in hybrid mode, the meeting approved key proposals related to the University's distance and online education programmes. Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal presented the agenda.
Rohtak, June 2, 2026: The 206th Emergent Meeting of the Academic Council of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia. Conducted in hybrid mode, the meeting approved key proposals related to the University's distance and online education programmes. Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal presented the agenda.
The Academic Council approved the Self-Learning Materials (SLMs) developed by the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Council also approved Programme Project Reports (PPRs) for various ODL programmes, including B.A., B.Com., M.A. courses in multiple disciplines, M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Com., and MLib.Sc.
VC Prof. Milap Punia said the University is committed to providing quality, skill-oriented and employment-focused education in line with NEP-2020. He noted that digital and distance learning are expanding access to higher education and creating new opportunities for students, particularly those from remote areas.
CDOE Director Prof. Rajesh Dhanakhar briefed the Council on the University's distance and online academic programmes. Former VC of Central University of Haryana Prof. R.C. Kuhad, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. A.S. Mann, and other Academic Council members participated in the meeting.
