MDU: 70 NSS Volunteers Vie for Spots at State Pre-RD Camp
A total of 70 NSS volunteers from 27 colleges participated in the university-level NSS Pre-Republic Day (Pre-RD) Trial Camp-2026 at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), where the selection process for the upcoming state-level Pre-RD camp was conducted.
Rohtak, September 19, 2026: A total of 70 NSS volunteers from 27 colleges participated in the university-level NSS Pre-Republic Day (Pre-RD) Trial Camp-2026 at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), where the selection process for the upcoming state-level Pre-RD camp was conducted.
NSS Programme Coordinator Prof. Savita Rathee said the volunteers were assessed on parade, physical fitness, command skills and cultural performances. The parade trials, held at the university sports complex, included running, drill and physical measurements.
The parade session was conducted by Havaldar Rakesh, Naib Subedar Yudhvir and ACP Subedar Rajesh. Sports Director Kultaj Singh briefed the volunteers on NSS objectives and the role of youth in nation-building, while Assistant Director Sports Dr Vipin Kumar encouraged the participants.
During the evening session, Director Public Relations Sunit Mukherjee sensitised the volunteers about drug abuse and administered an anti-drug pledge. He urged them to stay away from drugs and contribute to a drug-free society, stressing the importance of “communication for caring and sharing”.
The camp concluded with cultural performances featuring songs, dance and other presentations highlighting nation-building, social awareness and community service. The performances were evaluated by Dr Saurabh Verma and dance expert Shoaib.
Deputy NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Anju Panwar, PRO Pankaj Jain and programme officers from various colleges were also present.
