MCCD Training Workshop organised at DMCH

Ludhiana, January 25, 2014: A training workshop on Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) was organised at Dumra Auditorium of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. The medical officers of Ludhiana district and Coders from different health institutes of city participated in this training. This workshop was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operations, Punjab.

The event was inaugurated by Prem Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the institute. Dr Daljit Singh, Principal welcome the participants and highlighted the need for holding this type of training for medical practitioners. Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Dean Academics emphasised the importance of recording of correct cause of death for the national and international comparison and policy matters. BB Jain from Census Department was also present.

Dr R K Soni discussed about the International Classification of Disease (ICD-10). He said the coding of morbidity and mortality should be done as per ICD 10 pattern so as to have uniformity of data. Dr J.K. Sharma, Consultant, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stressed that proper cause of death should be mentioned by the treating doctors.
