MC general house takes historic decisions, approves resolution for regularisation of around 800 overage employees; implements e-Nigam for improving transparency and efficiency   

Reaffirming its commitment for welfare of employees and overall sustainable development of the city, the general house of Municipal Corporation (MC) approved resolutions for regularisation of around 800 overage employees and around 470 Beldars/gardeners/drivers etc during the meeting of MC general house held under the chairmanship of Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Friday.

Ludhiana, May 9, 2025: Reaffirming its commitment for welfare of employees and overall sustainable development of the city, the general house of Municipal Corporation (MC) approved resolutions for regularisation of around 800 overage employees and around 470 Beldars/gardeners/drivers etc during the meeting of MC general house held under the chairmanship of Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Friday. 

Further, in a first of its kind initiative, the general house has also implemented e-nigam in the civic body for improving transparency and efficiency. Under this initiative taken to promote digitalisation, the meetings of MC general house and Finance and Contracts Committee (F and CC) would go paperless on the lines of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. An online record would also be maintained for future use. This time too, the agenda of the F and CC meetings held in the past was also shared with the councillors online (whatsapp).
    
MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, MLA Madan Lal Bagga, MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu, MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, Joint Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Zonal Commissioners Gurpal Singh, Neeraj Jain, Jasdev Singh Sekhon among others officials of civic body were also present in the meeting. 

The general house of MC also approved the resolution for taking over different LIT scheme areas for maintenance including Maharishi Valmiki Nagar, Rajguru Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS) Nagar, Bharat Nagar extension, Sant Ishar Singh Nagar and Sukhdev Enclave. This will provide major relief to the residents residing in these areas. 

Resolutions have also been approved for providing jobs to next of kin of deceased employees on compassionate grounds. A number of other resolutions regarding promotions/welfare of employees have also been approved by the general house. 
       
Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur said that the long pending demand of the overage employees, beldars/gardeners/drivers has now been approved by the general house of MC. The resolutions for regularisation of their jobs have been approved by the general house and these would now be sent to local bodies department for further proceedings.  

Members of MC employees unions felicitated Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar and city MLAs for these historic decisions.
   
Appealing to the councillors of all the political parties to work together for the betterment of the city at large, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur further stated that their focus is on sustainable development. Moving forward with this agenda, e-Nigam has been implemented and the meetings of general house will now go paperless. Gradually e-office would also be implemented in civic body offices for ensuring transparency and efficiency.
