MC, administration operationalises carcass utilisation plant in Noorpur bet area

Ludhiana, January 15, 2024: In a positive development, Municipal Corporation (MC), administration and police department made the Carcass Utilisation plant operational in Noorpur bet area on Monday. The plant has been made operational in consensus with the villagers.

Working on the directions of MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, the teams of civic body and administration worked tirelessly since 3am in the morning and had multiple rounds of talks with the villagers for operationalising the plant.

The efforts bore fruits and the carcass utilisation plant was made operational in the evening. The contractor of the plant also disposed off a few carcasses in presence of the officials and no foul smell or pollution was witnessed due to the operations of the scientific plant.

ADC Gautam Jain, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, MC Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh, DCP Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, SDM Harjinder Singh, Corporation Sanitation Officer (CSO) Ashwani Sahota, Executive Engineer Ranbir Singh, among others were part of the teams.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi said that it was important to make the carcass utilisation plant operational as the illegal 'Hadda-Rodi' (carcass disposal point) functional at the banks of river Sutlej was causing pollution in the river and it has to be closed.

Further Sandeep Rishi said that the plant has been made operational in consensus with the villagers and they have been assured that the operations of the scientific plant will not cause any foul smell or pollution in the area.

Modern and scientific equipment/machinery has been installed in the plant which has been established under the smart city mission. Carcasses of cattle would be disposed off/processed to create poultry feed supplements and fertilisers.

Sandeep Rishi also appreciated the efforts of the civic body officials including Executive Engineer Ranbir Singh, the staff of health branch including CSO Ashwani Sahota, Chief Sanitary Inspectors, Sanitary Inspectors, sweepers among others.
