Reaffirming the commitment of the state government to ensure potable water supply to residents, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur launched a project to install the water supply pipeline under canal based water supply project at College road on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, December 10, 2025: Reaffirming the commitment of the state government to ensure potable water supply to residents, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur launched a project to install the water supply pipeline under canal based water supply project at College road on Wednesday. 

Accompanied by councillor Nandini Manu Jairath, Mayor Inderjit Kaur kick started the project from outside Nehru Rose Garden. Under this project, 2.8 kms long pipeline would be installed at a cost of around Rs 7 crore.   

Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that the work is being done under the first phase of the World Bank and AIIB funded canal based water supply project wherein a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being established in village Bilga (near Sahnewal). 

Overhead water reservoirs and associated pipelines are also being installed in different parts of the city under the first phase of the project which is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore. 

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur stated that working under the guidance of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, people-centric projects are being taken up across the state. The officials have been directed to complete the project within stipulated time period and ensure that there is no compromise with the quality of works.
