Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MC Chief Ojasvi Alankar launch first of its kind 24/7 Monsoon Helpline and WhatsApp Chatbot
In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at ensuring prompt resolution of public grievances during the monsoon season, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Municipal Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar launched a dedicated 24/7 Monsoon Helpline Number and WhatsApp Chatbot – 90867-91867 at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday.
Ludhiana, July 9, 2026: In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at ensuring prompt resolution of public grievances during the monsoon season, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Municipal Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar launched a dedicated 24/7 Monsoon Helpline Number and WhatsApp Chatbot – 90867-91867 at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday.
The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) situated in MC Zone D office has been converted into the 'Monsoon War Room' monitoring the city through 1700 CCTV cameras installed across the city. From here, the dedicated staff will list down the grievances submitted by residents and forward the same to the concerned officials/rapid action teams for swift resolution.
The initiative has been introduced to provide citizens with a single platform to report monsoon-related issues such as waterlogging, blocked sewer lines, damaged roads, fallen trees, non-functioning street lights etc.
MC Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Joint Commissioner Tapan Bhanot, Legal Advisor Gaurav Bagga, DDF Amber, Aman Singh, Jayant among others were present during the launching ceremony.
Apart from calling the helpline number 90867-91867, residents can also submit their complaint through whatsapp chatbot by sending a whatsapp message at the same number. The chatbot will automatically share reply and guide the residents to submit the complaint. Through chatbot residents can submit their complaints by simply submitting the details like the issue, their address, ward number etc and they can even submit a photo regarding their grievance.
On submission of complaint, the chatbot will also share the complaint ID and the number of the concerned civic body official to whom the complaint has been marked. Rapid action teams have also been deputed at zonal level to resolve the grievances at the earliest.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar said recently Local Bodies Minister Harjot Singh Bains had also inspected the 'Monsoon War Room' and reassured residents that the civic body is committed to serve the public at large.
They stated that the technology-driven system will facilitate better coordination and help reduce response time during heavy rainfall. The live monitoring mechanism will also assist in identifying vulnerable locations and ensuring that field staff are dispatched without delay.
Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar said that working under the guidance of Local Bodies Minister Harjot Singh Bains, the civic body is committed to ensuring timely redressal of public complaints during the monsoon season. They urged residents to make use of the newly launched helpline and WhatsApp chatbot to report issues and assured that a proper record would be maintained, complaints would be monitored and addressed on priority.
Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar stated that the civic body is committed to serve the public at large. All the preparations have been made in advance and they are regularly monitoring the situation at ground level.
