Mayor Inderjit Kaur leads mega awareness campaign 'My waste, My Responsibility' in CT University; students urged to spread message in their neighbourhood

Ludhiana, November 19, 2025: Moving forward with the mega 'My Waste, My Responsibility' mega campaign to sensitise the residents, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur led the solid waste awareness campaign in CT University campus on Wednesday.
Leading the mega campaign wherein awareness programs are being held in educational institutes, Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that the aim of this campaign is to inculcate solid waste management practices at the root level of the society.
A large number of city students study in the university and they have been appealed to follow the solid waste management practices and spread awareness among others in their neighbourhood.
Chancellor of the university, Charanjit Singh Channi; Pro Chancellor Dr Manbir Singh; Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh; Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Tandon; Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Simran Gill; Registrar Sanjay Khanduri; Director, DSW Davinder Singh among other members of the university participated in the awareness campaign.
MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Councillor Indu Munish Shah among other members of the health branch of the civic body participated in the event and encouraged the students to do their bit in keeping the city clean.
Nukkad Natak, live demonstrations, presentations etc were held during the awareness event wherein the students were apprised of different solid waste management techniques like segregation of dry and wet waste, home composting, recycling waste etc.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur also interacted with the students and a number of students were nominated as 'Swachhta Champions' to lead the way and spread the word regarding solid waste management at large.
The participants took a pledge to keep the surroundings clean and do their bit by managing their waste on their own.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that under this campaign, awareness drives/activities are being conducted in various schools of the city and they aim to bring a positive change in the society. Students/youth are major changemakers in society. They should take the word to their homes and spread awareness among their parents and neighbourhood regarding solid waste management.
Appreciating the efforts put in by the management and students of CT university, Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that working under the guidance of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann different initiatives are being taken to improve solid waste management in the city. It is high time that the residents should do their bit and support the authorities in keeping the city clean.
Appealing to the residents to stop dumping waste in the open, Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that the residents should hand over the household waste to the garbage collectors or dump the same at designated static compactor sites of the civic body.
