Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day on Sunday, the doctors at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, raised awareness and emphasized on the importance of early detection and care in managing Alzheimer’s disease. It is a progressive neurological disorder that is one of the leading causes of dementia worldwide.
Highlighting the seriousness of the condition, Dr. Sawan Verma, Associate Director – Neurology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, said, “Alzheimer’s disease not only affects memory but also gradually impairs thinking, orientation, language, and the ability to carry out simple tasks. Early symptoms are often overlooked as signs of normal aging, but timely diagnosis can help slow progression and improve quality of life. Risk factors include aging, family history, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, and lack of mental stimulation.”
