Mathematics day celebration held at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar: PG Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special program in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh as a part of the National Mathematics Day. 
The program saw an active participation of over 400 students from 22 colleges of the region. It comprised of competitions based on Quiz, Debate, Poster and model Presentation, Extempore, Rangoli, Model and Power Point Presentations. Dr RR Sinha, Head of the Department of Mathematics, NIT Jalandhar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he was duly welcomed to the college with a bouquet of flowers by Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Santokh Singh, Head, PG Department of Mathematics. 
Presiding over the proceedings on the occasion, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra discussed the ever increasing potential and dynamics of Mathematics in the modern age of science and technology. Dr Samra also highlighted the active role played by the college in the field of Mathematics by virtue of the staff and students alike. 
The stage was conducted by Prof. Palwinder Singh  whilst the vote of thanks was put forth by Dr. Dinkar Sharma. 
The occasion also saw the active contribution of a team comprising Dr Amritpal Singh, Prof. Manish Goel, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Onkar Singh, Prof. Harbinder Kaur, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur, Prof Simran Kaur, Prof. Pavittarpal Kaur, Prof Gitanjali Kalia, Prof Nitika, Prof. Priyanka and Prof Ajay. DAV College, Jalandhar won the overall prize of competitions while CT Institute Shahpur  finished as the runners up.
