Master Plan for Delhi 2047: DDA holds discussions with architects, SPA experts

New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS) Aiming to foster wider stakeholder understanding and facilitating effective and participatory implementation of the Master Plan for Delhi 2047 (MPD 2047), the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) held consultations with architects, planners and other professional stakeholders, an official said on Friday.

The sixth and seventh rounds of stakeholder consultations organised by the DDA on the directions of Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, provided an opportunity for participating stakeholders to share their views, suggestions and feedback on various aspects of Delhi's planned development.

Suggestions were received on parking infrastructure, traffic management in the national capital and various aspects of redevelopment projects, an official statement said.

These consultations are part of DDA's wider three-month stakeholder outreach programme aimed at engaging diverse stakeholder groups, facilitating greater understanding of the provisions of MPD 2047 and incorporating stakeholder perspectives for its effective and participatory implementation.

Around 20 such consultations are planned as part of the ongoing exercise, covering various thematic areas and stakeholder groups associated with Delhi's planning and development, the statement said.

The sixth consultation was attended by architects, planners and representatives of National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), the Council of Architecture, the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB). 

The seventh consultation meeting was attended by architects and planners.

During the consultations, DDA provided an overview of MPD 2047 and its vision of creating a sustainable, green and liveable national capital. 

Stakeholders were apprised of various spatial development policies under the Master Plan, including Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Land Pooling Areas, High Density Corridors (HDC) and Low Density Areas (LDA).

Detailed information was shared on the Land Pooling Policy, including DDA's proactive role in the development process, the specific mechanism for assembly of land, and the development of new road networks and other planned infrastructure in Land Pooling Areas.

The TOD framework was discussed, including Residential Affordable Housing Zones. 

Stakeholders were briefed on High Density Corridor (HDC) development along both sides of Urban Extension Road-II.
