March for Organ Donation AwarenessCompaign held at Jodhan

Ludhiana, March 4, 2017: Today, a rally was held from Grain Market Jodhan to the Statue of ShaheedBhagat Singh to make the people aware of organ donation, because more than 3 lac people die from lack of Organs but these lives can be saved if we donate Organs after brain death.
This march was organised collaboratively by GLODAS (Gift of Life Organ Donation Awareness Society) and Nightingale Group of Colleges, Narangwal. The march was lead by Dr.Baldev Singh Aulakh Urologist and Transplant Surgeon; head transplant unit DMCH Ludhiana, Dr.Sarbjit Singh Chairman Nightingale Group of Colleges, Narangwal.Col. Ranjit A.Nair 127 Battalionflag of the rally.
The students of Nightingale College of Nursing and Nightingale College of Educationand prominent people from Jodhan participated in this march. The literature regarding Organ Donation was also distributed among people.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Baldev Singh Aulakh by offering floral tribute to ShaheedBhagat Singh’s statue. Dr.Aulakh addressed the Panches, Sarpanches and the people of neighbouring villages telling them the methods and uses of Organ donation. He informed 1.5 lac persons need kidney and 1 lac need liver, 1 lac need heart. He told that a man can donate 8 Organs of his body and thus resulting in saving 8 lives so on. The people listened to Dr.Aulakh keenly and showed great enthusiasm for the awareness march. They filled donor cards.
S. Tanveer Singh DhaliwalCouncillor, S. HarminderSingh Thhakarwal Chairman, Market Committee Ludhiana also became a part of this march and they also addressed the people regarding the need for Organ donation.
In the end of the programme, Dr. Sarbjit Singh Narangwal asked the people to be aware of their contribution to save humanity. Only a human can come to help a human; and by donating Organs they can bring joy in others’ lives. They should come forward to donate what is gifted to them by God. Dr. Sarbjit Singh honoured Dr.Baldev Singh Aulakh and ColonelRanjit A. Nair and thanked them for organising this awareness march in the rural locality.
