Manipal Global in association with CENTA Launches Programs in Teacher Training and School Leadership

Bengaluru: The COVID-19 outbreak has radically transformed the traditional structure of the education system. It has provided the opportunity to rethink and reimagine the education system. Addressing the development, Manipal Global Education Services (MaGE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA), a leading organisation for teacher accreditation as well as professional development support, to launch programs in teacher training and school leadership development.

The pandemic has witnessed a significant surge in the demand for trained teachers. This has led to job creation in the teaching field. With the globalization of schools and curricula, there are also several international placement opportunities opening up. The program offers an excellent opportunity for people wanting to get into the teaching profession.

Speaking on the collaboration, Subrat Mohanty, Group President, Manipal Education and Medical Group, said, “Creating a pipeline of trained and effective teachers is critical to improving education outcomes in India. We believe a strong faculty and teacher development program will help create a future-ready workforce that will power our aspiration of a US$ 5 trillion economy. The Manipal group has been a pioneer in creating high-quality education ecosystems and we are delighted to partner with CENTA in building a world-class teacher training program.”

The program for teachers aims to equip school educators and aspiring teachers, including working professionals from other domains, with future skills and practical skill-sets needed to be an effective teacher and, through a widely-accepted certification, strengthen their ability to get premium teaching jobs in India and abroad. The school leadership program will be primarily aimed at principals and help prep senior teachers for management positions in schools. In both programs, keeping in mind the current situation of the pandemic, there will be a focus on the importance of online tutoring and the practical skills required for effective instruction through a digital platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramya Venkataraman, Founder & CEO, CENTA, said, “As a country, we constantly say that the quality of our teachers needs to improve. However, for this to happen sustainably and for the profession to become aspirational, our teachers need better career prospects, financial rewards and recognition. This is CENTA’s focus – certifying teachers and connecting them to opportunities. And now we are glad to partner with Manipal to create a path-breaking program that will allow candidates to gain practical skill-sets in an online format and get a great boost or start to their teaching careers.”

The comprehensive online programs are highly practice-oriented and offer internships with some of the most high-end schools in India during the program. Led by experts in education, the program helps aspiring teachers rapidly gain relevant skills for the classroom and school, respectively, and be ready to hit the ground running. Furthermore, it aids candidates with international and prestigious employer networking opportunities for professional placements. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be awarded certification from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and CENTA. The programs are available for candidates across India.
