In a remarkable stride towards enhancing agricultural practices, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda is currently hosting a 48-week Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) program. Funded by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, and directed by the Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Ludhiana, this program has attracted 40 trainees from various districts of Punjab.

Ludhiana, January 8, 2024: In a remarkable stride towards enhancing agricultural practices, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda is currently hosting a 48-week Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) program. Funded by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, and directed by the Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Ludhiana, this program has attracted 40 trainees from various districts of Punjab.

Under the able guidance of Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, the DAESI program has flourished, providing a comprehensive learning experience for input dealers in the region. Dr Vinay Singh, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), is coordinating the project with the steadfast supervision of Dr Gurdeep Singh, Deputy Director, KVK Bathinda.

Adding to the wealth of experience, Dr JS Gill, Director of PAU Regional Research Station (RRS), Bathinda, is acting as a facilitator for this diploma course, providing valuable insights and practical wisdom to the participants.

On January 6, 2024, the program reached a milestone with two impactful technical sessions designed to enrich the participants' knowledge and skills.

The first session, titled 'Basic Principles of Irrigation,' was conducted by Dr Anureet Kaur Dhaliwal, a seasoned Senior Crop Scientist from the Regional Research Station, Bathinda. Dr Dhaliwal's expertise illuminated the fundamental principles of irrigation, offering practical insights into water management strategies crucial for contemporary agriculture.

The second session focused on the 'Insecticides Act of India' and was led by Mr Manjinder Singh, an Agricultural Development Officer (ADO) from the State Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. Mr Singh's comprehensive overview of the regulatory framework governing pesticides usage emphasized responsible and sustainable agricultural practices.

In addition, a seminar on 'Road Safety and Traffic Rules' was conducted by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Bathinda Police, Hakam Singh. The seminar aimed at instilling awareness and responsibility regarding road safety, addressing a crucial aspect of the participants' professional and personal lives.

The DAESI program's success would be a testament to the collaborative efforts of MANAGE, PAMETI, and the dedicated team at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda. As it continues to evolve under the leadership of Dr MS Bhullar, the program stands as a beacon for quality agricultural extension education, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector in the region.
