Major reshuffle in Bengal Police; 15 officers transferred
The West Bengal government on Wednesday ordered a major reshuffle in the state’s police department, with as many as 15 senior officers, including Indian Police Service (IPS) and WBPS officers, being transferred.
Kolkata, July 1 (IANS) The West Bengal government on Wednesday ordered a major reshuffle in the state’s police department, with as many as 15 senior officers, including Indian Police Service (IPS) and WBPS officers, being transferred.
Some officers have received promotions, others have undergone routine transfers, and in the case of a select few officers, their transfer notifications were revoked, and they were assigned new duties.
As per the notification issued from the state secretariat of Nabanna, IPS officer Anjan Chakraborty is being sent as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the State Forensic Science Laboratory
Till now, Chakraborty had been serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the state Anti-Corruption Branch.
Similarly, IPS officer Sumanjit Roy has been made the IGP of the Intelligence Branch (Border). IPS officer Rashid Munir Khan has been transferred as IGP (Headquarters). He has been promoted from the rank of DIG.
IPS officer Pradeep Kumar Yadav, who was for a long time holding the post of Deputy Commissioner of the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police, has been transferred as the Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police’s 4th Battalion. On the other hand, Amlan Kusum Ghosh has been made Deputy Commissioner of the STF. He was earlier the Deputy Commissioner (North) of the Howrah Police Commissionerate.
As per the notification, Additional Superintendent of Police of Krishnanagar Police District in Nadia district, Sambhav Jain, has been promoted as the Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of Kolkata Police, cancelling his previous transfer as Deputy Commissioner (North) of the Howrah Police Commissionerate.
The Sub-Divisional Police officer of Ranaghat in Nadia district, Savita Gotial, has been promoted to the rank of Additional Special Superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the West Bengal Police.
WBPS officer Shaubhanik Mukherjee has been appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police of Howrah (Rural). Another WBPS officer, Sandeep Sen, has been posted as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) in Jhargram. He was earlier the Additional Superintendent of Police, Kharagpur, in West Midnapore district.
Another West Bengal Police Service (WBPS) officer, Shyamal Kumar Mandal, has been appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Zonal) of Sundarbans Police District in South 24 Parganas.
