Jalandhar, March 6, 2026: The NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Fortis Hospital, Jalandhar, organised a one-day blood donation camp on the college campus to encourage voluntary blood donation and promote humanitarian service among students. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and volunteers who came forward to support the noble cause.
The camp was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, who motivated the participants to actively contribute to saving lives through blood donation. He highlighted that although India is the most populated country in the world, the number of blood donors per thousand people is still very low. He emphasized that due to road accidents, thalassemia and other serious medical conditions, the demand for blood remains very high and many patients often fail to receive the required supply. He described blood donation as the “supreme donation” and appreciated the NSS Unit of the college for serving humanity through such initiatives.
NSS Chief Programme Officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that NSS volunteers held placards across the campus to motivate students to participate in the blood donation drive. Dr. Kusum shared that the collected blood units would help benefit more than 100 patients in need of blood transfusion.
During the camp, several faculty members also set an inspiring example by donating blood. These included Prof. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Sarbjit Kaur, Prof. Sonu Gupta, and Prof. Annie Goel. The event was also witnessed by LKC Medical Officer Dr. Jaswant Kaur, Prof. Narveer Singh (Head, Department of Physics), Prof. Surbjit Singh, along with NSS volunteers who played an active role in the successful organisation of the camp.
