Lyallpur Khalsa College Observes International Women’s Day

The English Literary Society of the P.G. Department of English, NSS Unit, Red Ribbon Club and Institution’s Innovation Council (I.I.C) of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jalandhar Helping Hands, organized an interactive session on Women’s Health and Hygiene for female teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students.

Jalandhar, March 10, 2026: The English Literary Society of the P.G. Department of English, NSS Unit, Red Ribbon Club and Institution’s Innovation Council (I.I.C) of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jalandhar Helping Hands, organized an interactive session on Women’s Health and Hygiene for female teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students. The resource person for the session was Dr. Harinder Kaur, an experienced gynecologist at Innocent Hearts Hospital, Jalandhar. She was warmly welcomed with a floral bouquet by Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu and Dr. Balraj Kaur, Head of the P.G. Department of English.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu highlighted the significance of observing International Women’s Day and emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities to women. He also appreciated the achievements of female students and staff members who have excelled at state and national levels.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Harinder Kaur spoke in detail about various aspects of women’s health and hygiene. She explained common health issues faced by women, their causes, preventive measures and remedies. She also stressed the importance of maintaining a proper diet, regular exercise and mental well-being. Her counterpart, Dr. Mandeep Singh, discussed several myths associated with female identity and urged everyone to adopt a more positive and progressive approach towards women’s issues.
During the event, female NSS volunteers who had participated in various prestigious events such as the Republic Day Tableau in New Delhi, National Integration Camp in Telangana, state adventure camps, and the State Youth Parliament were felicitated for their achievements. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Balraj Kaur, while the stage was efficiently conducted by NSS Chief Programme Officer Prof. Satpal Singh.
The event witnessed the presence of Dr. Jaswant Kaur from the Department of Physiotherapy, Prof. Anu Moom, Head of the Department of Political Science, Prof. Pooja Rana, Head of the Department of Geography, along with several teaching and non-teaching staff members and female students who attended the session in large numbers.
