Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar observes National Youth Day
NSS Unit Lyallpur Khalsa College, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, observed National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ji.
Jalandhar, January 12, 2026: NSS Unit Lyallpur Khalsa College, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, observed National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ji. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh offered flower petals to the photo of Swami Vivekananda ji along with students and staff. In his message, he said that the life and teachings of Swami inspire character building and self-belief, which are crucial for youth empowerment and nation-building. He also emphasized nationwide campaigns for ‘Vocal for Local’, physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork as essential criteria for the vision of Vikshit Bharat by 2047. Additionally, he sensitized the students about the ill effects of substance use.
A pledge regarding the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), launched by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, was taken by the gathering to generate awareness against drug abuse and promote positive behavioral change. NSS Chief Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that a 2 km ‘Run for Swadeshi’ was organized from the college gate to Ladowali Road to engage the wider community and disseminate the message of national unity and self-reliance, drawing inspiration from the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He further added that NSS volunteers, following the principles of Swami ji, have opted to participate in disaster management training organized by the district administration so that they can contribute effectively in times of need.
During the event, NSS volunteers and non-teaching staff members of the college participated with full enthusiasm, reflecting their commitment to social responsibility and the values promoted by Swami Vivekananda.
