Lyallpur Khalsa College Initiates ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’

Jalandhar, August 14, 2025: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility by launching a series of activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative, held under the directions of the Department of Child Welfare and Women Empowerment, Government of India, in alignment with the Government of Punjab’s Anti-Drug Campaign, was organised by the college’s Aristotle Society of Life Sciences, Social Sensitization Cell, Grievances Redressal Committee, Department of Physical Education & Sports, History Club, and NSS Unit, in collaboration with the S. Ajit Singh Foundation Society.
The campaign began with a Slogan Writing Competition, inaugurated by Principal Dr. Suman Chopra and Deputy Mayor of Jalandhar, Sh. Malkeet Singh Subhana. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chopra said the theme was timely and crucial, noting that “Drugs are like termites, silently eroding the strength, creativity, and optimism of our youth.” She urged students to engage in nation-building activities while staying away from drugs, and lauded the staff’s efforts in spreading awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse.
Registrar and event convenor Dr. Gagandeep Kaur shared that over 70 slogans and posters were received for the competition. She also announced a series of upcoming awareness programmes, including a seminar, mass pledge, nukkad natak, and marathon, encouraging students to participate actively.
The event saw the presence of Vice Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Dean Academic Council Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, HoD Mathematics Dr. Harjit Singh, President of S. Ajit Singh Foundation Society (Regd.) Ramanpreet Kaur, In-charge History Club Dr. Amandeep Kaur, NSS Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh, Dr. Surbjit Singh, Dr. Heminder Singh, along with a large number of staff members and students.
