Lyallpur Khalsa College Hosts Special Lecture to Mark Ambedkar Jayanti
Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a special lecture to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
Jalandhar, April 17, 2026: Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a special lecture to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. The event was jointly hosted by the Punjabi Sahitya Sabha and the NSS units of the college. Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, former Head of the Punjabi Department, delivered the keynote address. The programme began with floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait, followed by a welcome address by Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, who highlighted the life philosophy and enduring legacy of the great social reformer.
Dr. Buttar spoke extensively about Dr. Ambedkar’s life, ideology, and remarkable contributions, sharing valuable insights with students. The event was attended by Ajaypal, Chairman of the Dalit Development Board, Chandigarh, along with representatives from several social service organisations. Programme Coordinator Prof. Kuldeep Sodhi, Dean Student Welfare (Executive), expressed gratitude to Governing Council President Sardarni Balbir Kaur and Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu for their support in organising the event.
Faculty members and students from the Department of Punjabi participated enthusiastically. To mark the occasion, students cut a birthday cake in honour of Babasaheb, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks and high tea.
