Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrates International Yoga Day 2022

Jalandhar, June 21, 2022: Along with millions of people all over the world, Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated International Yoga Day today with much aplomb. Ever since the inception and endorsement of International Yoga Day by United Nations General Assembly in 2015, Lyallpur Khalsa College has been an active participant in and promoter of this invaluable legacy of India's ancient traditions.

Around 100 students, volunteers, cadets and teachers from the college participated in this event which was led by the Principal of the College, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra himself, along with Kamal Kumar Jassal, who is a yoga instructor and has done his specialization in yoga from West Indies.

Principal, Dr. G.S. Samra, welcomed the audience and said that Yoga not only had several health benefits but also had the power to alleviate us. He exhorted the students, volunteers and cadets to not only practice Yoga regularly and persistently but also to encourage their friends and family to do the same.

Kamal Kumar Jassal introduced the students and faculty to various asaanas that make the body strong and flexible. He said that as health improves with Yoga, the mind too is renewed with confidence.

On the occasion, Dr S.S. Bains, Dean Sports presented vote of thanks and informed the students that International Yoga Day 2022 is being celebrated under the theme 'Yoga for Humanity'. He added that Yoga helped many people to stay healthy and rejuvenated and to fight social isolation and depression during Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, Yoga should be practiced everyday for physical and mental well being.

At last, a memento was presented by Principal Dr. G.S. Samra along with  Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains (Dean Sports), Dr. Manpreet Singh Lehal (Incharge NCC Air Wing), Dr. Karanbir Singh (Incharge NCC Army Wing) and  Prof. Satpal Singh (Incharge NSS) to Kamal Kumar Jassal.
