Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 131st birth anniversary

Jalandhar, April 16, 2022: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar is always ready for the holistic development of the students. That is why besides education, various awareness programs are organized to guide them in life and to provide information about the lives of those personalities who motivate them for good cause. In the same vein, the framer of the Constitution of India, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's 131st birth anniversary was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the college management and students. 

On this occasion, Advocate Dr. S.L. Virdi attended the function as the keynote speaker. He was accompanied by his wife. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Gopal Singh Butter welcomed him with bouquet. Speaking on the occasion, he said that in the liberation of the country and welfare of the downtrodden people, Dr. Ambedkar's contribution can never be forgotten. He said that Dr. S.L. Virdi's study of Dr. Ambedkar’s principles and his legacy is extensive. Students should make the most of this lecture. Dr., Samra congratulated the teachers and students, on the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar. 

Dr. S.L. Dr. Virdi in his lecture presented his views on Ambedkar's struggle for human rights, the drafting of the Indian Constitution and the difficulties and struggles in his life. He said that Dr. Ambedkar successfully advocated passing the law to reduce the working hours from fourteen to eight hours. Similarly, women and workers were given the right to vote. He also played significant role to pass laws for maternity leave. He said that we must adopt the slogan of Dr.   Ambedkar ‘Read, Join, Struggle’ in real sense. 

The entire program was managed by Dr. Surinder Pal Mand and Dr. Ajitpal Singh. At the end of the event, Prof. Jasreen Kaur Dean Academic Affairs thanked the keynote speaker, teachers and students. 

During the function, stage was managed by Dr. Surinder Pal Mand. On this occasion, heads of various departments and teachers Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Prof. Dr. Sukhdev Singh Harjinder Singh, Prof. Kuldeep Sodhi, Prof. Rupali were present. Apart from this, non-teaching staff of the college and a large number of students also participated in the function.
