Ludhiana/Punjab news- Beopar Mandal condemns Punjab government for categorising dealers with regard to processing fee

Ludhiana, September 22, 2013: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) has condemned the state government for categorising dealers with regard to processing fee and introducing processing fee category-wise ranging from Rs. 800 to Rs. 5,000.

In a statement here on Sunday, the PPBM state president Amrit Lal Jain, general secretary Sunil Mehra and secretary Mohinder Aggarwal added they had strongly opposed processing fee when it was introduced last year. They said there was no category of dealers and processing fee was fixed at Rs. 800 last year, adding they had feared at that time that the processing fee would be increased in the future. “Now, our fear has proved true”, they remarked.

They further feared that the processing fee might be increased on yearly basis. They said it was not justified to ask for processing fee from VAT dealers as it was duty of the departmental officials to process the returns, adding if the government wanted to charge processing fee then it should deduct the charges from employees of the department concerned.
