Ludhiana/Jalandhar, October 2, 2013: Rich tributes were paid to Father of the Nation- Mahatama Gandhi on his 144th birth anniversary at Congress Bhawan, Ludhiana on Wednesday.
DCC (Urban), Ludhiana under the presidentship of Pawan Dewan held a function and remembered the role played by Mahatama Gandhi for freedom of the country. Among others, the DCC (Rural) president Malkiat Singh Dakha was also present.
Dewan and other leaders said Mahatama Gandhi had shown the path of non-violence to whole of the world. This was the reason that Mahatama Gandhi was given respect globally. They recalled that Mahatama Gandhi had also given the message of communal harmony and brotherhood. They asked the party men to follow the footsteps of Mahatama Gandhi and face those forces which were bent upon to harm in unity and integrity of the country for their vested interests.
Meanwhile, Hind Sewa Samiti (Rashtriya), Jalandhar members held a function at Jalandhar and paid tributes to Mahatama Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries. The Samiti president Sunil Sharma recalled the ideology of non-violence of Mahatama Gandhi during the freedom Struggle. He added Lal Bahadur Shastri had made efforts to make the country men self dependence.
