Ludhiana West by-polls- Expenditure observer directs FSTs, police, MC, excise and other law enforcement agencies to increase vigil; remove illegal hoardings/posters and update daily reports
In a bid to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, Expenditure observer for Ludhiana West by-elections Indana Ashok Kumar held a meeting with nodal officers of various law enforcement agencies in Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Thursday and directed them to intensify the operations and increase vigil across the constituency.

Ludhiana, June 12, 2025: In a bid to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, Expenditure observer for Ludhiana West by-elections Indana Ashok Kumar held a meeting with nodal officers of various law enforcement agencies in Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Thursday and directed them to intensify the operations and increase vigil across the constituency.
The aim was to ensure removal of all illegal hoardings/posters, stop illegal bulk movement of consumer goods and movement of liquor/contrabands etc. Concerned officials have also been directed to keep a check on any suspicious bank transactions during the election.
ADC Amarjit Bains, ADCP HS Mann among other officials of excise department, district administration, MC, GST, Income tax, forest department etc were present in the meeting.
Expenditure Observer Indana Ashok Kumar issued strict directions to officials of various departments for strict compliance of Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The MC teams have been directed to increase vigil and remove all illegal hoardings/posters. If needed, more teams should be deployed for this purpose and expenditure of the illegal hoardings/posters should also be booked.
He stated that apart from keeping check on unlawful movement of liquor/drugs etc, the FST teams and other concerned departments should also keep a check on the movement of consumer goods including electronic goods such as mobiles, utensils, ceiling fans, cookers, mixers, grinder, machines, garments etc. Reports regarding any seizures should be updated on a daily basis.
Expenditure Observer Indana Ashok Kumar stated that these items could be used as freebies to induce the voters either through distribution directly or coupon system. He emphasized upon the need for better coordination between the agencies to ensure the smooth, fair, and transparent conduct of polls. The observers also directed them to keep vigil on transportation of such items.
