Ludhiana West by-poll- Expenditure Observer orders immediate removal of unauthorized political ads from public properties in Ludhiana

Expenditure Observer Indana Ashok Kumar on Thursday, directed all political parties and candidates contesting the Ludhiana West by-poll to immediately remove all unauthorized political advertisements, including banners, posters, wall writings, hoardings, billboards, stickers, and flags, from public properties by the end of the day.

Ludhiana, June 12, 2025: Expenditure Observer Indana Ashok Kumar on Thursday, directed all political parties and candidates contesting the Ludhiana West by-poll to immediately remove all unauthorized political advertisements, including banners, posters, wall writings, hoardings, billboards, stickers, and flags, from public properties by the end of the day. 

The directive was issued during a meeting at the District Administrative Complex, attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurbir Singh Kohli.

Kumar emphasized that failure to comply would result in strict action under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Additionally, the expenditure for all political advertisements, whether authorized or unauthorized will be added. 

The Expenditure Observer further instructed that advertisements on private properties require prior consent from property owners. Non-compliance will lead to appropriate action. All printed materials, such as pamphlets, posters, and handbills must include the publisher’s and printer’s names, the number of copies printed, and a declaration from the publisher, with all details submitted to the authorities.

Since the enforcement of the MCC, the enforcement teams have removed a total of 10,530 defacements from public properties, comprising 92 wall writings, 6,707 posters, 801 banners, and 2,930 other materials. From private properties, 293 defacements have been cleared, including 1 wall writing, 249 posters, 34 banners, and 9 other items.

Seeking full support and cooperation from political parties and candidates, Kumar stressed that every effort will be made to ensure a transparent election process. He urged all stakeholders to adhere to the guidelines to uphold the integrity of the by-poll.
