Ludhiana-Punjab needs sustainable architecture: IIALC

Ludhiana, March 12, 2022: Architect members of Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) organised a technical meet in collaboration with ultratech regarding "The Working Of Sustainability".

Architect Sanjay Goel- one of the director of Ludhiana Smart City Limited (LSCL)and Chairman of IIA Punjab Chapter was Chief guest and he shared his viewpoints regarding sustainability in built environment. He explained how we all can learn from our experiences with the clients and their queries.

Ar Shiv Dev Singh- Chairman IIA Chandigarh Chapter was guest of honour and he explained the huge difference between town planning of Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

Ar. Sangeet Sharma- a leading architect from Chandigarh  was keynote speaker. Having inherited principles of “Modern Architecture” from his father S. D. Sharma an eminent architect, he surges ahead creating architecture which is a social art of latest technologically sound function.

In his presentation, he emphasized not only on the building designed by him but on day to day challenges faced by professionals. His idea of presentation revolved around architects and kind of clients they deal with. In his presentation, he added pages from his book "Castles in the Air" which is a humorous edition of architect's journey starting from his college days till today. He added we have no right to laugh on others if we cannot laugh on ourselves.

He talked about world famous architect - B.V.Doshi and Hafeez Contractor and kind of learnings he is still getting from them. He also shared his experiences of meeting people from different states and backgrounds and kind of demands/expectations they possess from an architect.

He also shared that architect is within all of us but we should always learn from nature and kind of balance the nature has created. He also said that sustainability is most misused and abused architectural term. He concluded that we should carry further  the legacy of our elderly architects with the same emotions they used to design with.

Meeting was attended by more than one hundred architects including Yogesh Singla, Balbir Bagga, Niranjan Kumar, Akanksha Sharma, Vivek Sehgal, Kanav Khosla, Harpreet Dhillon, Anju Bala, Barjinder Pal Singh, Vikrant Gupta, Arun Vishnoi, Gagandeep Sharma, Gaurav Sharma, Ishika Singh, Harneet Kaur, Nikhil Singhania, Prity Jaiswal, Sumit Sharma, Amit Sanyal,Tonish Verma, Neeraj Sharma, Balvir Singh, Rajvinder Singh, Ravinder Singh, Nikhil Jindal, Deepak Mandal and architects from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering college- School of Architecture.
