Ludhiana, October 31, 2013: Inspector Gurtej Singh, SHO, Focal Point, Ludhiana, on Thursday, has recovered 115 bags of about 42.45 quintal poppy husk from an abandoned truck.

On Wednesday he had received an information that a canter was seen parked for the past 4-5 days near a park opposite Military Camp Dholewal Camp and the vehicle was seen covered with a plastic sheet. When SHO alongwith the police party checked the vehicle the recovery of poppy husk was made. The vehicle (No.UP-11 T8819) belongs to Shahnawaz Ahmed, son of Mansoor, resident of Ajan Colony in Saharanpur, said the police in a release today.

Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against owner of the vehicle and others.

The market value of the recovered poppy husk is stated to be worth Rs. 15 lakh.  www.cityairnews.com
