Ludhiana, November 14, 2013: A Seminar on “Youth Welfare” comprising all district Coordinators and executive committee members of Punjab Irrigation Retired Engineers Association was held on Wednesday at Punjab Pensioners’ Bhawan, Mini Secretariat, Ludhianan which was presided over by Er. A.S. Pandher, former chairman, Institution of Engineers (India) Punjab, Haryana and U.T Chandigarh.
Association President Er. K.L. Bhargava advised the members to remain contented since our pensions have been reasonably revised. Now we should concentrate on unemployed youth by propogating a Slogan “Yuva Nirman Desh Nirman” so that some solution is evolved to provide them jobs by making them self-reliant and to utilize their talent for development of Nation. For this purpose a wing named as “National Forum for Youth Welfare” has been formed under the Chairmanship of Dr. R.P. Bhardwaj Formar Director Punjab Technical University and Principal Doaba College Jalandhar which will submit its proposals to the central and state governments.
He also stressed the members to pay back to society in any form of social work since what we possess today was received from it. He further advised them, to shun greed and preach and practise economical use of water, electricity and fuel so as to boost our economy. He also emphasised that the members must cast their vote in all elections from Panchayat to Parliament and motivate others to do the same so as to strengthen the democracy, Also we should support whichever government is formed and, instead of criticising, we should suggest positive remedial measures.
Er. S.S. Chopra , Er. G.C. Bhardwaj, Er. M.S. Maheru , Er. Hardip Singh also took part in the deliberations. The presiding Officer Er. A.S. Pandher praised the initiative of the Association taken to spread patriotism and the noble national work of donating recently Rs. 7.14 lakhs to Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for rehabilitation of Uttarakhand flood victims despite a small membership of 335 only.
