Ludhiana News/NRI Surinder Rupa distributes uniforms in Govt Primary School Chaminda

Ludhiana, November 25, 2013: District Congress Committee (Urban), Ludhiana president Pawan Dewan has said NRIs were playing a commendable role in development of villages and upgrading lifestyle, so that people residing in rural areas might also get basic facilities at par with urban people.
Addressing a function held at Govt Primary School, Chaminda today, he appealed to Punjabis settled abroad to extend their maximum support for development of villages of the state. On the occasion, NRI Surinder Singh Rupa hailing from the village, distributed uniforms, bags and other material among the schoolchildren. It may be mentioned here that Rupa does the same every year.
Lauding the commendable social work being done by Rupa, the Congress leader said that NRIs were fully aware of problems of the villages necause they had a deep relation with Punjab. He added Rupa had always been concerned with development of his village while staying even abroad.
In his address, Rupa too said that he had never forgotten his village where he had brought up. He said he would always try to work for betterment of the village. On the occasion, the village panchayat specially honoured Dewan and Rupa.
