Ludhiana, December 11, 2013: The Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana today demanded the implementation of Supreme Court guidelines on the sale of acid in the city. The party strongly condemned the recent incident of acid throwing on a bride at a beauty salon in Sarabha Nagar recently which led to the woman succumbing to her injuries. The recent incident has totally rubbished the claim of the administration regarding the sale of acid in the city.
In a written memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal, the Aam Aadmi Party urged the district administration to raid the stocks of shopkeepers who are selling acid in the city. They also requested the District Administration to issue instructions to the shopkeepers for strict implementation of the guidelines laid out by the Supreme Court regarding sale of acid.
According to Ravi Sachdeva of the Aam Aadmi Party, “This is a very serious issue as highlighted by numerous such incidents in recent past. The sale of acid should be totally banned and we request the District Administration to take necessary steps for the same immediately as it involves the risk to security of every woman”.
According to Dupinder Kaur Bharaj, “Females everywhere do not feel safe at all due to such acid throwing incidents. We urge the District Administration to take immediate steps to rectify the situation which poses a risk to half the population”.
 The Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana spokesperson told that if the District Administration fails to take adequate steps we will be forced to launch an agitation against this soon.
