Ludhiana News/ Why are Indians prone to diabetes and how are they managed differently

Ludhiana, November 20, 2013: To commemorate the 75th Birth anniversary of Dr S B Khurana, Former Principal of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Hero DMC Heart Institute is organising the Second 'Prof. S B Khurana Memorial Oration' on November 23, at Dumra Auditorium. Dr.Shashank R. Joshi, President Association of Physicians of India will deliver the prestigious oration on the topic: 'Why are Indians prone to diabetes and how are they managed differently'.

Giving details, Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Prem Kumar Gupta said that Dr.S B Khurana did his MBBS from Government Medical College in Amritsar in 1961,  and finished his MD in medicine with cardiology as the special subject in 1965. He joined Dayanand Medical College & Hospital as a senior lecturer in 1967 and rose to the rank of professor in 1975. He took over as medical superintendent in 1980. He was actively associated in various committees of the college and the hospital and participated with zeal and enthusiasm in the growth of the institution from its humble beginnings to the present glorious status. He took over as principal of the DMCH on September 1, 1994.

Prof.S.B Khurana was an astute clinician, excellent academician and very popular amongst the medical fraternity, medical students & patients alike. His Contributions to the medical education and patient care has been remarkable and will always be remembered.
