Ludhiana News- Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in city

Ludhiana, September 8, 2013: The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is to begin from September 9 (tomorrow). It is also called as “Vinayak Chaturthi”.
This festival is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha is the God of Wisdom and Prosperity.
Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshutsav is celebrated across the country. But it is mainly observed in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
There is a strong belief that during observance of Ganesh Chaturthi Lord Ganesha bestows his presence on earth for all his devotees.
On this special day, Lord Shiva declared his son Ganesha as superior to all the Gods, barring Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva and Parvati.
Like other parts of the country, this festival is also celebrated in Ludhiana too. Celebrations are being started from tomorrow onwards. In this connection, preparations were witnessed in the city on Sunday.
