Ludhiana News- IIA Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter celebrates World Habitat Day

Ludhiana, October 7, 2013: The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter celebrated the `World Habitat Day’ here on Monday.

World Habitat Day is celebrated on the first Monday of every October and the theme of this year’s event was “Urban Mortality”.

World Habitat Day is also known as World Architect’s Day.

Sanjay Goel, Joint Secretary of IIA Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter addressed the issue of “Revival of Ancient Indian Technologies for Habitat and Town and Country Planning”. According to available information with www.cityairnews.com in his lecture he advised everyone to go back in time and relearn all the concepts of town planning and their construction techniques to improve the habitat we are presently living in.

The event was attended by Harinder Singh Boparai, Rajan Tangri, Balbir Bagga, Yogesh Singla, Amit sanyal, Bimaldeep Singh, Randhir Singh, Varunesh Kumra, Vikram Likhy, Tarsem Goel, Harsharan Singh, Vinay Goel, Ishita Bansal, Ankur Bhandari and others.

The event was basically organized to sensitize the architects and people towards the growing need to halt and understand the problems faced by a city at micro and macro level both as explained by Architect Rajan Tangri.

It’s high time we try and create a sustainable habitat so that our future generations can live as pleasantly as we are living today.
