Ludhiana, November 27, 2013: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Baldev Singh, while presiding over District Level Review Committee meeting/ District Credit Consultative meeting attended by District Co-ordinators of the banks and officials of the other Government Departments/ Agencies intimated that banks of the district disbursed Rs 7614 crore to agriculture and other priority sectors against a target of Rs 6304 crore up to the quarter ending 30th September 2013. He also informed that for agriculture and allied activities, Rs 3092 crore were disbursed against a target of Rs 2859 crore.

He further informed that to industry sector comprising MSME segments and large industries, disbursement of Rs 2698 crore was made against a target of Rs 2214 crore. Baldev Singh instructed the official of banks to give priority to sanction and disburse DRI loans for the upliftment of Poor and Down Trodden Sections of the society, so that they can gain self employment and stand on their foot. It was informed that Punjab and Sind Bank is running Rural Self Employment Training Institute at Master Tara Singh College Complex to impart training to the children living below poverty line.  He said that training for Dairy farming, Computer (Hard ware and Soft ware), Stitching and Tailoring, Electrical repair, Motor winding and Boutique is imparted free of cost. Up till now training institute as imparted training to 1408 beneficiaries comprising 47 courses. Out of which 834 beneficiaries have gained employment/ self employment.  He also stated that Punjab and Sind Bank is also running Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling centres for the benefits of the public.

ADC (D) warned the officials of the private banks that if they do not full fill the targets fixed for Govt Sponsored Scheme for disbursement of credit to Social and Down Trodden People, appropriate action will be taken against the erring officials and the matter will also be taken with the Reserve Bank of India.

Manjit Singh Jaggi District Manager Lead Bank Ludhiana appealed to the citizens of the districts to ensure that their Aadhar Cards are linked with Bank Account as well as with their respective gas agencies, as w.e.f. 1st December 2013 subsidized gas cylinders will be available only through bank account subsidy. He directed bank officials to give due publicity by organizing camps for enlightenment of the citizens. Lead Bank has allotted gas agencies to all the banks for opening their camp offices for seeding of Adhaar Card and opening new bank accounts of the LPG beneficiaries at the spot.

ADC (D) intimated that different departments have formed 1336 Self Help Group, out of which 793 groups have taken loans from the banks. He said that Dairy Development Department has got financed 95 small Dairy Units and 35 commercial dairy units with loan of Rs 11.62 cr.

Meeting was attended by Jagjit Singh Bhalla Zonal Manager Punjab & Sind Bank Ludhiana, H S Sawhney  Chief Lead District Manager Ram Gopal AGM of RBI, Nalin K Rai DDM NABARD, besides District Co-ordinators of  Banks and other government officials.
