Ludhiana, June 14, 2018: To celebrate World Blood Donor Day and commemorate the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner, Department Of Transfusion Medicine, Christian Medical College (CMC) Ludhiana held a donor felicitation ceremony in the Blood Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.William Bhatti, Director CMC Ludhiana enlightened the gathered donors regarding the theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day – “Be there for someone else. Share Life, Give Blood’,” and dedicated the event to voluntary blood donors, in which the youth participated actively.
CMC Principal, Dr.Jeyaraj Pandian,informed everyone that voluntary non remunerated blood donations form the backbone of safe blood supply for the patients in need.
On this occasion Dr.Aikaj Jindal, HOD Blood Bank welcomed Chief Guest, Mr. Surinder Dawar (MLA) who encouraged the youth with his words and cut the cake to mark the occasion. Mr. Arun Henry was also present along with the members of the NGO – Dildar group welfare society registered and Asian Medical Student Association, India (AMSAI), who actively participated in the blood donation camp.
Dr. Anil Luther, Medical Superintendent was present among other dignitaries and appreciated the gradual increase in awareness related to blood donation amongst today’s youth and emphasized that blood donation by even 10% of the Indian population can ensure that all patients will get adequate and regular blood supply. Team of Blood Bank CMC, Ludhiana thanked the donors for their dedication and hoped that India shall soon achieve the 100% voluntary blood donation benchmark."
