Ludhiana Industry & Punjab Govt. Join Hands to Upgrade ITIs; High-Level Working Group Constituted

A delegation of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) and Institute Management Committee (IMC) met Vikas Pratap, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, along with Director Mohnish Kumar to discuss the strengthening and overall improvement of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Ludhiana district.

Ludhiana, May 8, 2026: A delegation of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) and Institute Management Committee (IMC) met Vikas Pratap, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, along with Director Mohnish Kumar to discuss the strengthening and overall improvement of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Ludhiana district.
During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary applauded the performance of Government ITI Ludhiana and appreciated the significant contribution and active role of Ludhiana industry in skill development, training enhancement, placements, and apprenticeship promotion. He further urged the industry to upgrade Government ITIs in Punjab at the same level as Samrala ITI, Jagraon ITI, Hussainpura ITI, and Gujjarwal ITI, so that students can receive industry-oriented training and better employment opportunities.
The delegation also highlighted that CICU has been successfully organizing Mega Job Fairs every year for the last 10 years to connect industry with skilled manpower and generate employment opportunities for youth. During the last CICU Mega Job Fair, around 3,150 job aspirants were offered job letters by participating industries. The delegation further informed that CICU is again planning to organize another Mega Job Fair in the first week of July.
Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Pratap appreciated this initiative of CICU and assured full support from the Department for strengthening industry-academia collaboration, skill development, placements, and employment generation for Punjab youth.
A high-level Working Group Committee has also been constituted for the overall improvement of training standards, placements, apprenticeship, and infrastructure development in Government ITIs of District Ludhiana.
The committee includes Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma, Chairman IMC Govt. ITI Ludhiana; Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU; Gautam Malhotra, Vice President CICU; Vishav Bandu Monga, Former Joint Director, Department of Industry & Commerce Punjab; Manmohan Singh Chaggar; Baljinder Singh, Principal ITI Ludhiana (Convenor); Parvinder Singh Sidhu, Assistant Director HQ; and Mohan Singh, Principal Govt. ITI Gujjarwal.
The Working Group will focus on assessment of training standards, Training of Trainers (ToT), enhancement of employability, improvement in placement outcomes, CSR-based infrastructure investment, and effective implementation of NAPS 2.0.
Honey Sethi, General Secretary, CICU congratulated all the newly appointed committee members and expressed confidence that the committee would play a vital role in transforming Government ITIs into world-class skill development centres aligned with industry requirements.
