Ludhiana Gears Up for District Badminton Championship 2025–26

Ludhiana, October 11, 2025: The sporting spirit of Ludhiana received a major boost today as Himanshu Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, formally released the poster of the Ludhiana District Badminton Championship 2025–26.

The launch ceremony was attended by members of the Interim Committee, Ludhiana Amarjit Bains, ADC and Chairman; Dr. Sulbha Jindal, Member Secretary; Gagan Kapila, Member; Tarun Arora, Member; and Anand Tiwari, Organising Secretary and National/International-level badminton player.

The championship will take place from October 23 to 26, 2025, at the Shastri Badminton Hall, Guru Nanak Stadium, and is set to become one of the biggest district-level badminton events in recent years. For the first time, the competition will offer cash prizes worth ₹7 lakhs across multiple categories, ranging from Under-11 to Veteran levels.

The event is being hosted in the Ludhiana West constituency, and special mention was made of Sanjeev Arora, Minister and MLA from Ludhiana West, whose guidance, encouragement, and continuous support have been instrumental in making this championship a reality.

Speaking at the release, Himanshu Jain lauded the committee’s initiative and said,  “This championship is a collective effort to empower young talent and strengthen Ludhiana’s sports culture. It reflects the city’s passion for excellence and teamwork in nurturing future champions.”

Amarjit Bains, ADC and Chairman of the Interim Committee, commended the efforts of the organizing team for their detailed planning and coordination, ensuring transparency and professionalism in execution.

Dr. Sulbha Jindal, Member Secretary, expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and the administration, emphasizing that this event will act as a powerful platform for upcoming badminton players and inspire greater participation in the sport at the grassroots level.

The Interim Committee confirmed that all arrangements have been put in place for a well-managed and inclusive competition. Live updates and match draws will be accessible to all participants and spectators during the event.

With enthusiastic participation expected from across the city’s schools, academies, and clubs, the championship is poised to reaffirm Ludhiana’s position as a hub of badminton talent in Punjab.
